Searching for Users or Extensions
The UCM User Portal includes a powerful search option that lets you easily find any user or users in the system. Search may be used when
entering or editing user information, assigning extensions in the dial plan, and in many other screens.
You can search by name, extension number, or other criteria. Multiple conditional search terms can be included to narrow the search in a large system.
To search for users or extensions in the system
- In the search for drop-down list, select the attribute to search for:
- ASSIGNED USERS (users that have extension numbers)
- UNASSIGNED USERS
- LAST NAME
- FIRST NAME
- DEPARTMENT
- MANAGER
- LISTED SITE
- INSIDE LOCATION
- LISTED PHONE
- EXTENSION
- EMPLOYEE ID
- TITLE
- In the next drop-down list, select a search condition:
- CONTAINS
- DOES NOT CONTAIN
- EQUALS
- DOES NOT EQUAL
- WITHIN RANGE (when searching for extensions)
- NOT WITHIN RANGE (when searching for extensions)
- Enter the terms to search for in the text field. * (asterisk) may be used as a wildcard to match anything.
If searching for a range of extensions, enter the start and end of the range in the two fields.
If you want to clear your selections and start over, click
.
- Click . Search
results will be displayed in the list below.
Note –
if the number of results exceeds 25, they will appear on multiple pages. Click the PREVIOUS, NEXT, FIRST, or LAST button to navigate through
pages of search results. You may want to add additional search terms as described below to narrow the search.
- Select a user from the search results, and then click
,
, or
.
In some cases, multiple users may be selected using Ctrl-click, or Shift-click to select a contiguous range.
To add additional search terms
- Click .
- A new search line will appear. Select AND or OR from the drop-down list.
AND – search criteria from both this line and the preceding line must be met.
OR – search criteria from either this line or the preceding line must be met.
- Enter search terms and conditions as explained above.
To remove a search line, click
.
- Click and
select items from the results.
