Outbound Dialing Groups
Outbound Dialing Groups are used to assign outbound dialing permissions for groups of system users.
For example, you might want to restrict a lobby phone from making long distance or international calls. To do so, you could create a "Local Only" Outbound
Dialing Group, set Allow and Deny privileges, and then add the lobby phone extension as a member of that dialing group.
To configure an Outbound Dialing Group
- Click
in the
DIALING GROUPS list, or click an existing group to edit.
- Enter a descriptive name in the DIALING GROUP NAME field.
The lists in the OUTBOUND DIALING PRIVILEGES area are used to specify, allow, or deny dialing patterns.
Each pattern can be in only one list for each Outbound Dialing Group.
- The and
buttons move a selected pattern to another list.
Move dialing patterns to the ALLOW or DENY lists as needed.
To simplify the procedure, you can first configure the DENY list, and then check ALL
CALLS EXCEPT DENIED to move all remaining patterns in the UNASSIGNED PATTERNS list to the
ALLOW list.
To add or edit a custom dialing pattern
- To add a custom dialing pattern, enter the digits in the PATTERN field, and then click
to add the pattern to the
UNASSIGNED PATTERNS list. The pattern is matched to the beginning of any outbound dialed number. For example, the pattern
‘900’ will match 9005551234, 9001234567, etc.
- Only unassigned custom patterns can be edited. To edit an assigned custom pattern, you must first move it to the
UNASSIGNED PATTERNS list for all Outbound Dialing Groups.
- To edit an unassigned custom dialing pattern, hover the cursor over a dialing pattern entry in the UNASSIGNED PATTERNS
list.
- Click .
- Make any required changes in the PATTERN field.
- Click to save the changes, or click
to cancel.
To delete a custom dialing pattern
- Custom dialing patterns that are assigned to any Outbound Dialing Group cannot be deleted; you must first move the pattern to the
UNASSIGNED PATTERNS list for all Outbound Dialing Groups. System predefined patterns cannot be deleted.
- Hover the cursor over the dialing pattern that you want to delete in the UNASSIGNED PATTERNS list; a bold
X will appear.
- Click the X.
- Click in the confirmation dialog box to delete the pattern,
or click to cancel.
To add members to a dialing group
- Click in the
MEMBERS OF THIS DIALING GROUP area to add new members.
- Search for users.
- Select the one or more users from the search results, and then click
.
Alternatively, user extensions can be assigned to an Outbound Dialing Group on the User Call Routing screen.
Note – user extensions can only be assigned to one Outbound Dialing Group.
