TSG-6 Overview

What is TSG6 technology?

You have likely seen a movie where spies sneak into an office and plant recording devices or bugs in an office so they can listen in on important conversations. Due to the advances in communications technology it is no longer necessary for someone to go through that much work to listen in on your conversations.

Most people do not realize that acoustic signals can be picked up by a phone that is on hook, with no need for any special eavesdropping devices. Without special design considerations, these signals can be detected on the phone lines that leave the room.

While millions of dollars are spent annually to make sure conversations made over the phone are encrypted, surprisingly none of that effort prevents eavesdropping on the conversations you have in the proximity of your phone when it is not in use.

TSG6 technology eliminates the possibility of your phone being used as a listening device by malicious actors.

The U.S. Intelligence Community created the National Telephone Security Working Group (NTSWG) to be the primary technical and policy resource in the for all aspects of the technical surveillance countermeasures (TSCM) program involving telephone systems.

This group created the TSG6 certification to be assigned only to communications equipment which meets their stringent standards of not being able to be compromised as listening devices.

TSG-6 certified equipment from Teo complies with the DCID directive for Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIF) and JAFAN directive for Special Access Program Facilities (SAPF).

	We offer two models of TSG-6 certified ISDN phones for secure area applications. Specially designed to achieve TSG-6 certification, these on-hook-secure ISDN phones are available in S/T and U interface models. Both models are supplied with an automatic Disconnect Device, which completely isolates the phone from the ISDN line whenever facility power is compromised.

Teo TSG-6 Secure Standalone NT1

	Typical ISDN NT1's are often used within a SCIF area with TSG-6 approved phones, such as the L-3 STE. However, this combination may compromise audio security and does not meet TSG security requirements. Teo manufactures the only NT1 on the market that is TSG-6 certified and deployable within a SCIF area.
